Designed by the Rev. William Broughton Carr, the Edwardian “WBC” Beehive has come to symbolise the English Garden.
This handsome beehive is a practical compost maker. It turns what is an eyesore in most gardens into an attractive feature, whether placed in a corner of the garden, the patio, under an apple tree or outside the backdoor.
The Beehive is handmade in the traditional way with removable sections for easy access. The lid is hinged and has a wooden prop and the bottom front cover is removable for access to your compost. The bottom of the beehive is open to allow the worms up and the loose fitting sections allow plenty of air to circulate.
The timber has been pressure treated (tanalised) for longevity.
The beehive is available unpainted or in a choice of paints in Lavender, Lilac, Angel (white with a hint of pink) Traditional White, Hot Pink, Sage Green, Barley-wood Blue or Forget-me-not blue.
Beehives come ready assembled, you merely place the sections on top of one another.
The Beehive makes an extremely attractive garden feature and may be used for numerous other functions such as storing tools, Wellies, recycling rubbish, log shelter etc. Or just as an Old Bit of England to decorate your Garden.
Each Beehive is handmade to order from 1” thick pressure treated tanalised timber derived from well managed British forests (FSC verified).
The dimensions are 3’1” high (to apex of roof) by 2’ square and is based on the original dimensions of the WBC Beehive.
